On August 29, the retirement ceremony of professors at our university was held. Professors have not only taught and led students, but have also contributed to universities and society by focusing on education and research as a treasure of academics and knowledge. The university remembers precious moments with professors on the occasion of the retirement ceremony and expresses gratitude and respect.
We raise the footsteps of professors who are retiring.
First of all, Yoo Hye-bae is a professor of English literature at the College of Humanities.
The professor earned a bachelor's degree in literary history from Sogang University in 1982 and a master's degree in TESOL and a doctorate in linguistics from Stony Brook University in 1986 and 1992.
Since 1995, she has served as a professor of the Department of English Literature at our university, contributing to the development of the school, serving as the head of Incheon National University's language institute from July 2002 to August 2004, and as the head of the College of Humanities and the Graduate School of Culture from July 2018 to May 2021.
Professor Yoo Hye-bae has led the field of study by publishing and presenting 49 papers in the fields of phonology, voice, English education, and language acquisition, and has improved the status of our university by building speech data for English, Korean, and Chinese learners for the first time in Korea.
In particular, when she served as the head of the Department of English Literature from 2006 to 2008, she contributed greatly to receiving the best department evaluation in 2007 by activating specialized programs, leading the internationalization trend of universities, and working hard to create an English education environment.
Next is Lee Young-seok, a professor of French and French literature at the College of Humanities.
The professor earned a bachelor's degree in French from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in 1987 and a master's degree in French literature from Paris University 8 in 1990. And in 1996, he obtained a doctorate in French from Paris 4th University.
Since then, he has been a professor at our university since March 2006, focusing on French literature education for 18 years and dedicating himself to nurturing his younger students. In particular, the professor contributed to the development of Incheon University by serving as the head of the Korean Language Institute, the head of the Humanities Research Institute, the head of the College of Humanities, and the head of the Graduate School of Culture. In this process, while serving as the head of the Humanities Research Institute, he was promoted to the academic list of "Humanities Research" and laid the foundation for popularizing the humanities through "Themed Humanities History". In addition, through collaboration with the Small and Medium Venture Business Corporation, he helped improve our school's employment capabilities by operating internships and employment linkage projects for students at humanities universities.
Next is Professor Kyung-heon Kyung of the Department of Electronic Engineering at the University of Technology.
The professor earned a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering and engineering from Seoul National University in 1981 and a master's degree in engineering and a doctorate in engineering from the Department of Electronic Engineering from Seoul National University in 1983 and 1991.
And he served as the head of the Multimedia Research Center from 2004 to 2014, served as the head of the Foreign Exchange Department from 2013 to 2014, and as the head of the Research and Industry Department and Industry-Academic Cooperation Department from 2016 to 2017, playing a part in improving our school's external status and strengthening research capabilities.
In addition, from the 2010s to the present, the professor has achieved great achievements in Korea's electronic engineering field by implementing a wireless charging zone system using magnetic resonance, researching drone safety threat response technology management plans, and developing a radio collector for checking drone-mounted navigation safety facilities.
Next is Professor Lee Dong-ho of the Department of Safety Engineering at the University of Technology.
The professor obtained a degree in mechanical engineering and engineering from Inha University in 1982 and a degree in mechanical engineering, thermal fluid, and master's in engineering from the same university in 1985. In 1991, he earned a doctorate in mechanical system engineering and mass transfer from Tokyo Agricultural University.
Since he served at our university from 1992, he has contributed to the development of our university by serving as the head of the Start-up Incubation Center from 2006 to 2010, the head of the Fire Prevention Research Center from 2006 to the present, and the head of Incheon National University's Safety Science Education Research Center from 2012 to the present.
In addition, a total of 371 published and published papers, 29 awards at school and abroad, and 41 activities such as industry-academic consultation and screening deliberations showed the aspect of Korea's top authority in safety engineering.
Next is Professor Hong Sun-pyo of the Department of Bio-Robotic System Engineering.
The professor earned a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering from Ajou University in 1982 and a master's degree in electrical and electronic engineering from KAIST in 1985. And in 1993, he obtained a doctorate in electronic engineering from East Sea University in Japan.
Since he served at our university from 1996, he has served as the head of the Employment Experience Development Institute from 2014 to 2016, achieved the highest employment rate among national universities, and served as the head of the field training center from 2014 to 2017 and devoted himself to developing the school's employment capabilities by raising the participation rate of field training students.
In addition, the professor has made great achievements in the field of bio-robot system engineering in Korea by winning the 2005 Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy Award, the 2006 Incheon Mayor's personal citation, and the 2007 Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development's personal citation.
Next is Sung Mi-young, a professor of computer engineering at the University of Information Technology.
The professor earned a bachelor's degree in computational statistics and calculations through a minor at Seoul National University in 1982 and a master's degree in computer engineering and a doctorate in engineering from INSA Lyon in 1987 and 1990.
Since she served at our university since 1993, she has contributed greatly to the development of our university by serving as the head of the core business team of BK21 Ubiquitous Entertainment at Incheon National University, the head of the University of Information Technology, and the head of the Graduate School of Information Technology.
In addition, the professor was awarded the Minister of Science and ICT's commendation for his contribution to the promotion of science and technology in Korea by carrying out the duties of the President of the Korea Women Engineering Engineers Association and the President of the Korea Women Information Society. Currently, she is a member of the Content Industry Promotion Committee of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and contributes to the national development of computer engineering.
Next is Professor Kang Hyun-chul from the Department of Information and Communication Engineering at the University of Information Technology.
He earned his bachelor's degree in electronic engineering and engineering from Yonsei University in 1982 and his master's degree in electrical engineering and his doctorate in engineering from the same university in 1984 and 1989.
The professor has been a professor of information and communication engineering at our university since 1990, serving as the president of the University of Information Technology, the president of the Graduate School of Information Technology, and the head of the school affairs department, and served as the vice president of Incheon National University from 2021 to 2023. The professor contributed to the development of the university by participating in the normalization committee of Beomseon Academy in 1992 as a leading group at major inflection points of Incheon National University, including municipalization in 1994, relocation of Songdo, integration of junior colleges, and nationalization. In addition, as a member of the Multimedia Research Center in 1998, he attracted the Korea Science Foundation Regional Cooperation Research Center for the first time at Incheon University, and in 2018, he established Energy Excellence and Smart City Lab to carry out energy efficiency projects in school, contributing to the development of multimedia technology, expansion of research foundation, and establishment of an energy monitoring system at our university.
He was a founding member of the Incheon U-City Forum in 2007 and the Incheon Smart City Association in 2012 and played an important role in establishing smart city policies, exporting technology, improving citizens' settlement conditions, and establishing smart city governance, and contributing greatly to the development of local communities.
Next is Professor Lee Ki-young of the Department of Information and Communication Engineering at the University of Information Technology.
The professor earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Yonsei University in 1982 and a master's degree in electrical engineering from the same university in 1984. He earned his Ph.D. in electrical/computer engineering from the University of Colorado in 1987 and was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Alabama in 1993.
The professor has been a professor of information and communication engineering at our university for more than 30 years since 1993, running a "communication network and security (CNS) lab," participating in the RRC research project group, carrying out projects related to multimedia data network construction with students in the lab for 10 years, and presenting the research results to overseas societies every year. In 2015, he served as the head of the Information Computer Science Institute and built a decision support system and a next-generation INU comprehensive system. He served as the president of the University of Information Technology for two years from 2021, contributing greatly to the development of the school by developing balanced development of three departments, TA systems to increase students' academic achievement, and various programs to improve employment rates. Currently, he is serving as a director of the Korea Electronic Engineering Association, and as a cooperative vice president at the Computer Society, he has successfully led academic conferences for more than 10 years and played a part in the development of Korea's information and communication engineering field.
Next is Professor Park Jong-don of the Department of Business Administration of the College of Business.
The professor earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Korea University in 1982, a master's degree in business administration from Eastern Washington University in 1989, and a doctorate in international business administration from Dongguk University in 1996.
The professor has served as a professor of business administration at our university for 33 years since 1991, serving as the president of the business school and the president of the business school, and has been striving to cultivate subsequent generations of business administration.
As an authority in the field of business administration in our country, he published 14 major books, including Understanding International Business Administration, and published 75 research papers, In addition, he won an academic award in 2018 under the theme of "4th Industrial Revolution and e-business model" and "International Trade Research Meta-analysis."
He also played a part in the development of Korea's international business administration by serving as an advisor to the Incheon Foundation, president of the International E-Business Association, and chairman of the Korean Trade Information Association.
Next is Professor In-mo from the law department.
The professor earned a law degree from Sungkyunkwan University in 1983 and a doctorate in law from the University of Göttingen in Germany in 1991.
Since he served at our university from 1995, he has contributed greatly to the development of the law field at Incheon National University by serving as the head of the school from 2008 to 2009, and as the head of the law school from 2010 to 2012. In particular, from 1998 to 2023, he served as a member of the judicial, administrative, and legislative examinations, and presented standards for discovering jade stones that will play a part in Korea's development.
In addition, he has been the chairman of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency's Human Rights Commission from 2020 to the present and the chairman of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency's Appeal Review Committee from 2021 to the present, making efforts to ensure that basic freedoms and rights that people enjoy and exercise as individuals or members of the state are guaranteed and protected.
