Incheon National University (President Park Jong-tae) Haksan Library won the "57th Korean Library Award (Group ) in 2025" at the 76th regular general meeting of the Korea Library Association.
The Korea Library Award has been established and awarded by the Korea Library Association since 1969 to recognize individuals or organizations who have made outstanding contributions to the development of libraries in Korea and to inspire motivation for library development.
Since its opening in 1981, Incheon National University Haksan Library has contributed to enhancing the university's educational capabilities and research skills based on more than 1.5 million books and more than 85 types of electronic resources. It operates a variety of reading culture programs that local residents, including university members, can enjoy together, provides opportunities for humanities literacy and development of convergence capabilities through the classic reading program of the INU Great Books Center, which is part of the Haksan Library specialization project, and also operates customized user education for each target, including AI specialization education, to cultivate talents suitable for the intelligent information society.
In particular, Haksan Library is striving to support the development of creative collaboration capabilities by building and operating innovative spaces based on the newly opened Irum Hall in 2022. If the existing Haksan Library Central Library is a static library centered on materials and reading, Irum Hall is a dynamic library where various cultural activities coexist and work with the local community. In recognition of this innovative space composition, Haksan Library Irum Hall won the "2023 Incheon City Architecture Grand Prize" and the "9th Korean Cultural Space Award (Library Division)" in 2023.
Yoon Young-don, head of Haksan Library, said, "I am glad that the Haksan Library of Incheon National University won the Korean Library Award in the group category. If the award I received earlier was highly appreciated for the innovative space composition of the library, I feel even more impressed because it gave a good evaluation to the hard work and hard work of many employees (private) teachers, including Chung Ju-yeon, head of the academic information team," adding, "Haksan Library is positioned as a creative space that produces various types of knowledge and works based on communication and collaboration beyond simply searching and acquiring knowledge and information. We will continue to strive to serve as a place for universities and community members to share and develop knowledge."
