● 2026 K-Innovation Uzbekistan Invitational Training Delegation Visits Incheon Innopolis

● Sharing R&D-Based Operations, Technology Applications, and Cooperation Cases

The Incheon Innopolis Project Group (Director Heekwan Lee, Professor of the Division of Urban and Environmental Engineering at Incheon National University; hereinafter “Incheon Innopolis”) hosted a delegation from Uzbekistan at Incheon National University on August 19 in connection with the “2026 K-Innovation Uzbekistan Invitational Training Program.”

The visit was organized as part of the K-Innovation Partnership Program operated by the Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI). The program has been conducted since 2014 and provides opportunities to share Korean experience in science, technology, and innovation with participating countries. This training program focused on technopark operations in Uzbekistan.

A total of 20 participants attended the event, including officials from Uzbekistan’s Agency for Innovative Development, administrators from youth technoparks, and representatives from related organizations. The delegation visited Incheon Innopolis to learn about its operational practices and cooperation activities and to review examples that could be useful for technopark operations in Uzbekistan.

During the event, Incheon Innopolis introduced its R&BD-based operating system, technology application cases, company support activities, and examples of cooperation among universities, research organizations, and companies. The project group also shared practical examples related to technopark operations and program management.

The visit was held in the video conference room of the INU Administration Building. Following welcoming remarks by Incheon Innopolis Director Heekwan Lee, a special lecture introduced the operational framework of Incheon Innopolis and related technology cases. The Uzbek delegation also gave presentations on technopark operations, followed by a question-and-answer session and discussions on possible future activities.

The event provided an opportunity to introduce Incheon Innopolis’ experience in environmental technology and exchange ideas with participants from Uzbekistan. The two sides also discussed possible areas for future research, technology-related activities, and cooperation between participating organizations.

With Incheon National University serving as its core technology institution, Incheon Innopolis carries out activities related to public technologies in the environmental field, technology transfer, research-based companies, company support, and cooperation with related institutions. It also introduces the activities of Innopolis companies through the Incheon International Environmental Technology CONFEX and other exchange programs.

Following this visit, the project group plans to maintain communication with participating organizations in Uzbekistan and continue exploring opportunities for future projects involving Innopolis companies.

“This visit provided a valuable opportunity to introduce Incheon Innopolis’ experience in technology applications and cooperation activities to participants from Uzbekistan,” said Heekwan Lee, Director of the Incheon Innopolis Project Group. “We hope to continue exchanging information and exploring related activities based on our experience in the environmental technology field.”

He added, “Incheon Innopolis will continue working with related institutions in Korea and other countries and explore further opportunities for exchange with organizations in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.”
