2026 Incheon Youth Physics Festival

Incheon National University (INU), led by President Injae Lee, announced that its Infinite Imagination Research Institute (hereinafter “the Institute”) held the “2026 Incheon Youth Physics Festival” (IYPF) for three days from August 21 to 23. Approximately 500 people participated, including high school students from 40 teams across Incheon and their supervising teachers.

The IYPF consisted of two categories: a research debate category and a poster category. In the research debate category, students spent five months conducting experiments, analyses, and investigations on six open-ended problems. Based on their findings, teams gave presentations and exchanged questions and comments with other teams, with their work reviewed by a panel of judges.

In the poster category, participants selected either a research topic from a previous year or a physics phenomenon of their choice, conducted experiments and analyses, and presented their findings in poster format.

Following three preliminary rounds comprising nine sessions and a final round, the Physicaemong team from Incheon Arago High School won the research debate category. The S.F. team from Soongduk Girls’ High School and the Vector team from Incheon Nam High School were named runners-up.

“More important than the final result, the time students spent thinking with their peers, working through difficulties, and continuing their research will remain a valuable experience,” said Professor Soobong Choi, Chair of the festival’s Organizing Committee. “I would also like to thank the supervising teachers who worked with the students throughout the research process, as well as the Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education, the Incheon High School Physics Teachers’ Research Association, and members of Incheon National University for their support.”

Other physics research and discussion programs for young students include the International Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT) and the Korea Young Physicists’ Tournament (KYPT). The IYPF is a regional physics program organized for students in Incheon.

The INU Infinite Imagination Research Institute operates programs including the Convergence Education Experience Center and STAR Bridge Center and provides students with opportunities to participate in science and convergence education activities.
