Incheon National University Green Environment Support Center Receives Incheon Mayor’s Award at the 31st Incheon Environmental Awards

The Green Environment Support Center at Incheon National University (INU), led by President Injae Lee, received the Incheon Mayor’s Award in the environmental organization category at the 31st Incheon Environmental Awards ceremony held at the Incheon Ilbo at 2 p.m. on August 20. The center is headed by Professor Dongwoo Jang of the Division of Urban and Environmental Engineering.

Now in its 31st year, the Incheon Environmental Awards recognizes institutions, organizations, and individuals for their activities related to environmental improvement and conservation in the Incheon area. The INU Green Environment Support Center was selected as the recipient of the Incheon Mayor’s Award in the environmental organization category.

The center has been operated by Incheon National University since its establishment in 2000 and carries out research, education, and support activities related to environmental issues in the region. It works with universities, companies, public organizations, and other related institutions on various environmental programs.

In particular, the center has supported small businesses in installing and maintaining environmental facilities and Internet of Things (IoT) systems suited to their production processes. It has also conducted activities related to fine particulate matter reduction and environmental facility management.

The center also worked with Incheon National University on the “Reduce One Ton of Greenhouse Gas per Person” campaign, which contributed to INU being selected as an outstanding Green Campus university. In addition, it provided specialized training for small businesses in the Namdong Industrial Complex and supported improvements in wastewater treatment processes for the plating industry.

“This award recognizes the activities our center has carried out over the 26 years since its establishment,” said Center Director Dongwoo Jang. “We will continue to carry out environmental research and technical support activities in Incheon and work with local businesses and related institutions on practical environmental projects.”
